PROJECT DIRECTOR, ENGINEERING (NUCLEAR)

We have been retained by our client to identify and recruit a Project Director, Engineering (Nuclear). Our Client is a privately held nuclear energy technology company which was founded to develop a scalable, sustainable, low-carbon and cost-competitive energy source. With deep technical knowledge and commercial experience, the Company is developing and constructing a new nuclear reactor based on technology. Mission-driven innovation has distinguished this technology from other nuclear energy endeavors and this unique approach will greatly simplify the current nuclear energy supply chain and significantly mitigate many of the shortcomings of other nuclear energy technologies.

The Project Director, Engineering is our Client's key engineering representative responsible for directing all technical engineering activities of the joint venture under the guidance of the CEO.

This position will be located in Shanghai, China.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:
  • Coordinate engineering and project management activities for the joint venture, which is a global collaboration effort to complete the design, engineering and development of the traveling wave reactor technology.
  • Lead all engineering activities for the project, providing technical direction to the engineering staff, consultants, and vendors.
  • Provide expert technical advice and expertise relative to the project.
  • Oversee nuclear engineering project development to prepare the technology for licensing and construction of the prototype plant (estimated at multi billions USD - a mega project).
  • Plan, direct and control all engineering support activities for design.
  • Maintain close relationships with nuclear reactor safety, licensing, procurement and other project team members, and external entities.
  • Focus on maximizing efficiency of the program and enhancing commercial output. Own and resolve all technical issues through coordination between the Company, regulatory agencies, and engineering.
  • Oversee all design activities in compliance with international nuclear regulatory statutes and requirements.
  • Implement and maintain an efficient and compliant nuclear quality program to ensure all nuclear standards are being met.
  • Demonstrate and deliver leadership in safety and engineering compliance.
  • Ensure achievement of nuclear safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives.
  • Ensure Document Management supports the project needs efficiently.
  • Verify that all engineering project documentation is issued on time, in the appropriate format, and consistent with quality standards.
  • Produce and publish and present comprehensive reports on time.

  • Demonstrate and deliver leadership in safety and engineering compliance.
  • Ensure achievement of nuclear safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives.
  • Ensure Document Management supports the project needs efficiently.
  • Verify that all engineering project documentation is issued on time, in the appropriate format, and consistent with quality standards.
  • Produce and publish and present comprehensive reports on time.
